Official Statehood Metal commemorating the Admission of Alaska as the 49th State of the United States of America, January 3, 1959. Bronze Medallion. The front of the medallion carries the map of Alaska superimposed over a map of the lower 48 states. The words: "49TH / STATE" are superimposed over the map of Alaska. Above the maps is the word: "ALASKA." Below the maps are the words: "JANUARY 3, 1959." On the reverse of the medallion is the Seal of the State of Alaska. |
